Welcome to the Rick Kennon: Republican Candidate for Williamson County Attorney Campaign Website

As we have all seen, the existing conflict between the County Attorney’s Office and the Commissioner’s Court is detrimental to the citizens of Williamson County. Not only is it unproductive but it has since deteriorated into a muddle of inter-agency bickering, distracting those involved from their obligations and duties to you, as Williamson County’s residents; duties that you are not only owed but were promised.

Williamson County and its residents deserve a County Attorney who professionally, ethically and EFFECTIVELY represents their interests – the type of person who has the ability to work WITH all of the offices and individuals involved in the effective enforcement of the law.

This has to stop. Obviously, the checks and balances system required between the County Attorney's office and the Commissioner's Court must remain in place to ensure that rules and procedures are legally followed. Disagreements as to procedure or the handling of county business should, and can be resolved amicably. However, there is no question that the relationship between the current County Attorney and the Commissioner’s Court is irretrievably broken.

Williamson County and its residents deserve a County Attorney who professionally, ethically and effectively represents their interests – the type of person who has the ability to work with all of the offices and individuals involved in the effective enforcement of the law. Vital to any County Attorney’s Office is the understanding that the position requires that the Commissioner’s Court and the County Attorney work together. But in order to work together they have to be able to communicate which should involve listening and not litigating.

I have been a resident of Williamson County for 17 years and I am running for Williamson County Attorney because I believe we need a strong alliance between all facets of this county’s governmental system. We are ready for a combined effort to find a harmonious common ground so we can get back to business.

For 27 years I have worked in many areas of the law; I have worked as a prosecutor, an Assistant Attorney General and in private practice. I have worked hard to gain a varied background dealing with numerous people from all walks of life to ensure that each and every one not only is but feels well-represented.

I have worked as a prosecutor and will continue to keep Williamson County tough on crime. As a Family Attorney, I have years of experience handling cases with contentious parties and most times, have been able to reach a satisfactory resolution.  I not only have the skill set but also the experience to know that there’s something to be said for using more honey and less vinegar to resolve disputes.

I can mend the relationship between the County Attorney's Office and the Commissioner’s Court so that government works together and not in opposition to each other.
